I didn't know whether to laugh or cry when I looked into my mailbox. An unfamiliar newspaper headline banner screamed, The Epoch Times. Above it, reverse type in a 3"-high orange text box reads: YOU DESERVE REAL NEWS. Empowering YOU with facts, so that YOU can make up YOUR own mind.
Thank you for your shocking look at today’s reality/unreality. People who value truth will need to continually seek out and support each other. One important reason I value the Iowa Writers Collaborative!
It seems we all have gotten this rag for fake news. We’ve been puzzled and have researched as you have. Thank you for your words of reality: “Instead, we must actively engage. This upheaval didn't happen overnight, and it's not going away overnight. Somehow we have to come to grips with unreality.”
Thanks, Denise. It had not been on my radar screen. I'm not sure if it's just being sent to rural Iowa, or to Iowans in general. Or if a specific age group has been targeted. Yes, we will be continually confronted with unrealities on a daily basis!
I got that Epoch Times as well and thought I was losing it. Who would waste their money sending that to me?? I used it to light the fire. But you're right about the attraction to hunkering down. It's only my fear of fascism if Trump is re-elected that keeps me engaged at all.
Thank you for the information about Epoch Times & Newsmax. I too had received both of these with no idea why. If I receive the ET again it will immediately go in recycling & the other, if the "Unsubscribe" doesn't work, will see if I can get it moved permanently to spam. Jeesh!
I also received a copy of The Epoch Times last week. It brings to mind the aphorism, "you can fool all of the people some of the time, and some of the people all of the time, but you cannot fool all of the people all of the time." We will learn in November if a majority of voters can be fooled.
Amen Cheryl! I scream in anger about this. Are all Americans in love with WWE and its main admirer DT? Are we all as gullible as the Republicans think we are. NO! NO! People do love the big lie, though, so we need to continue to speak out just as you are.....
