Cutting National History Day is an absolute travesty. Who benefits from that? No one.

I’m guessing the “benefit” is to the Project 2025 pushers who want to whitewash history and dumb down our culture for their own personal satisfaction. Get ‘ em while they’re young.

Yes, this is one of the biggest challenges we have —the rewriting of our history. . . The good, the bad, and the ugly. Thank you.

Thank you, Cheryl. It is walking out the front door and seeing all of the beauty that has sprung up around us that will soothe and comfort the journey into May. April showers…………….

Thanks for highlighting the consequences of some of the cuts taking place in DC. Very sad. I have written lots of letters to our Senators and Rep. Nunn.

Permanent Residents do not have the right to vote or hold certain government jobs. They are not citizens and can be deported. Khalil was arrested because he “led activities aligned with Hamas, a designated terrorist organization.” No warrant was needed as Khalil was believed to be a flight risk. But, okay - paint him as an outstanding individual who happened to get caught up in an outrageous US legal system.

How did your house do from the big branch breaking?

Thanks for asking. We do have shingles that will have to be replaced, and some downspout damage, etc. We know we were lucky, but we had to hire a company with a crane. We have begun the back-and-forth with our insurance! Thanks!

Wow, so much to see, feel, and learn in your story!

It’s notable today that we expect to see all varieties of fruits and veggies in the store year around without ever thinking where they come from

Or they got there. And imagine the feeling of dread in the past as produce stored in the cellar from last year dwindled this time of year.

Last week I was surprised to find my rhubarb, hidden on the south side of the grain bin away from our house, had grown huge and is ready to pick! When did that happen?

So many faces of April - especially considering this year. Thank you Cheryl.

Thanks, Jim. I’m glad my column provided food for thought! Your rhubarb is ready to pick!! I better doublecheck; I have only a few asparagus spears so far.

I hope it can be funded from a combination of other sources. But there’s no guarantee. So sad!
